Does the Bible have a plan, which if followed, will ensure personal health, wealth, and happiness? Does it contain an economic plan for businesses, nations, and even the world, which if followed, would ensure national health, wealth, and happiness? What does the Bible say about money, its accumulation, and use? The answer to the first two questions is a resounding YES! The Bible has much to say about money and economics, on both a personal, business, national, and world scale.

Most of this section focuses on national health, wealth, and happiness on the premise if the nation is healthy, wealthy, and happy, the citizens will also be healthy, wealthy and happy. Most of the focus is on wealth because if most people were asked what they wanted most, most would say "more money." It has been said that wealth cannot buy happiness, but it can add to happiness that is already present. Happiness is a personal matter. It is also true that proper health care can be very expensive, and without the means to afford proper food, medicine, clothes, shelter, and a healthy environment, it is difficult to have good health.

The Bible is first and foremost a book about relationships, the relationship of humans to God and the relationships of humans to each other. The Bible actually deals with little else. As a famous Rabbi said, "The question Cain asked God, namely, 'Am I my Brother's keeper?' is the central theme of the Bible, and the rest of the Bible answers and revolves around that question." Yeshua summarized his teachings by saying "Love God and Love your Neighbor," and defined one's neighbor as everyone in the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Thus the central theme of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is, as is the central theme of the Law of Moses and of Jesus teachings, is "Love God and Love Your Neighbor."

Central to these relationships is the handling and use of wealth or money. Outside of romantic relationships, monetary relationships are the most important and can be the most stressing. Indeed, most romantic relationships will succeed or fail for economic reasons. Not too surprisingly, the Bible has a great deal to say about wealth and the handling of money, as well as relationships between humans and God and humans with each other concerning monetary affairs.

The Bible gives instructions and guidelines for both personal finances and for national finances. These instructions have been largely ignored because they have been misunderstood or not understood at all. Further, many people, when they study the Bible, tend to get away from the central theme of the Bible, and in doing so tend toward private interpretations that are not in keeping with the central theme or point of the Bible at all. An example is slavery. The Bible does contain very detailed laws about slavery, but the slavery of the Bible is voluntary servitude and not slavery at all as practiced two centuries ago. The Biblical slavery was actually a welfare system, and not involuntary servitude. A Biblical slave had the right to leave his or her master at any time, and had many other rights. Thus to use the Bible as justification for the type of slavery practiced two centuries ago is a gross misuse of the Bible, and is a highly inaccurate representation and a total distortion of what the Bible actually says. There are many other examples.

It is our hope that the reader will obtain a much better understanding of what the Bible really says about money and wealth. If you practices what is in this site, and you also will confirm that the Biblical guidelines presented herein do indeed work for you.  Then you will be able to tell others that these Biblical practices do work. The Biblical way is not a "get rich quick" scheme, rather the slow accumulation of wealth is proper and recommended. So is the sharing of that wealth with the less fortunate. Getting rich quick is not condemned and it is not wrong to be rich, but it is wrong to be rich and uncaring. It is wrong to focus one's life on the accumulation of wealth to the exclusion of all else, particularly spiritual growth. Money can be "A root of evil," and is not "The root of evil." The Bible focuses more on ones attitude toward wealth, and not on how much wealth one has. On the other hand, it is the Biblical wish that all "may prosper and be in good health."

These references are from students of the Bible and have academic training in economics and business, as well as science and engineering. In addition, These students are successful business people. We became interested in the subject many years ago and this interest was increased when they started collecting coins and money of the Bible. This activity led to a study of the economic life of the times of the Bible. They consulted with several professors of theology in the preparation of this references. These professors reviewed feratures of these references. This reference were actually 25 years in preparation, information was gathered "here a little and there a little" from many sources.

The development of this resource center has taken many strange turns, and always, just as some hindrance was encountered, the hindrance was removed by near miraculous means. We hope the many will understand God's viewpoint concerning wealth and money as expressed in the Bible. We hope that the reader will find and experience the peace and love this information has helped to bring to us. May you "prosper and be in good health."
